person Gayle McCreery, one poem

Gayle McCreery is a septuagenarian living in rural central Ohio. A retired nurse, a grandmother of seven. A deaconess.

On a Sunday morning early
As a grey dawn clears my vision,
A soprano-rasp sounds.

A profile settles in the highest arc of the willow across the pond,
A handsome fellow with formal Sunday attire,
Spiked coif, bright white collar, proud blue suit.

Sir, you made this morning worth the awakening,
All glory to the creator on this particular day that allowed this gift,
This model of beauty living out its time in its own fullness.
